Need Accommodations?
Students need to enroll in the Center for Access before receiving accommodations. To enroll in the Center for Access, students must schedule an appointment to meet with a Coordinator, fill out the intake form, present documentation at the intake meeting, and sign their letter of accommodation. See below for more details!
Registration Process
Student obligations in the enrollment process are listed below.

- Fill out the intake form. Center for Access Intake Form
- Meet with a Center for Access Coordinator. Take part in the intake meeting with a Coordinator to discuss disability/medical information
for accommodation needs. During the meeting, present documentation of disability or
medical condition that supports each accommodation requested. The Center for Access
accepts the following documentation at enrollment:
IEP/ 504 Plan (if you are a recent graduate from High School)
¢ Psychological Report
¢ Letter from Medical Provider
¢ Supplemental Security Income (Eligible for Tuition Discount Only)
Documents can be received by- Scanning and emailing documents to ca@southwest.tn.edu, or
- By providing a copy of the documents in person during the meeting.
PLEASE NOTE: You should not delay meeting with the Center for Access out of concern for not having the correct (or any) documentation. If needed, the Coordinator can discuss with you any specific documentation needs during your intake meeting. Our priority is to meet with you and provide accommodations as soon as possible. Provisional accommodations may be provided to allow students time to procure any needed documentation.
- Sign Letter of Accommodation. After your meeting, the Coordinator will create your letter of accommodation. The letter will be sent via email to be signed by the student. Once the student electronically signs the letter, it will be sent to their professors and accommodations begin.
Letters of Accommodations (LOAs) need to be renewed each semester to continue receiving accommodations in every class. This is because letters are sent to the student™s professors, and professors change each semester. The Center for Access will reach out to each enrolled student about renewing their accommodations at the end of each semester. It is the student™s responsibility to ensure their accommodations are renewed each semester. Failure to do so may result in delayed accommodations.
Need ASL Interpretation During Your Meeting?
ASL Interpreters are available for students. When scheduling your appointment, please let the Coordinator know you will need an ASL interpreter. 91ÊÓƵ requires a two-week notice for interpreting services.
