Forty-nine Saluqi Student-Athletes Receive TCCAA™s L. Quentin Lane Award

(MEMPHIS, Tenn.) - Forty-nine 91ÊÓƵ student-athletes received the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association™s L. Quentin Lane Award for Academic Achievement for their work in the classroom during the 2024-2025 academic year. 

This marks a record number of honorees for the 91ÊÓƵ athletic department. To qualify for the award, these student-athletes needed to achieve a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) with a minimum of 24 (college level) hours for the fall and spring semesters with a part-time exception made for graduating sophomores. 

The Saluqis™ baseball team led the way with twenty-three honorees, followed by softball with nine, women™s soccer with seven, and both men™s and women™s basketball with five each.

Nine Saluqis were ˜Diamond Team™ recipients for earning a 4.0 GPA “ Cameron Baker, Chris Henson, Mason Little, Owen Phillips, Charlie Smith, and Bryce Turner from baseball; Eric Jones from men™s basketball; Hannah Rawie from women™s soccer; and Reagan Spears from softball. Turner is a repeat recipient of the Diamond Team award.

Twenty-seven were named to the ˜First Team™ (3.50-3.99 GPA) “ Matthew Bright, Declan Spinner, Dylin Walters, Mitch Griffin, Ethan Myers, Sammy Chapman, Blaine Nunnally, Jeb Cox, Tripp Ray, Dalton Brenner, Jonathan Walsh, Logan Luckett, and Ian Dittmer from baseball; Haley Gamblin, Jasmine Roach, Charlee Smith, Blakelynn Pitts, Hanna Crider, and Jordan Wilson from softball; LaTonya Bobo, Jaliyah Zackery, and Journey Williams from women™s basketball; Josie Hargis, Maria Carrico, Taelor Barrow, and Keegan Pilant from women™s soccer; and Alex Vandenbergh from men™s basketball.

Thirteen were named to the ˜Second Team™ (3.00-3.49 GPA) “ Anthony Scarpino, Scotty Young, Ryan Neilson, and Jacob Brandon from baseball, Cameron Donegan, Jean LaFleur, and Reese Snellman from men™s basketball; Jernesha Clark and Jamiyah Jones from women™s basketball; Hadley Bobbitt and Izzy Melvin from women™s soccer; and Hayley Cartwright and Tamyra Higgenbottom from softball.
