2024 Honors Convocation celebrates outstanding student-scholars

91视频 students were celebrated for their outstanding academic achievements at the Student Honors and Awards Convocation ceremony held on April 16, 2024 at the Verties Sails Gymnasium. 

The event featured keynote speaker President Tracy D. Hall and other campus leaders. 

淲e are thrilled to shine a spotlight on the incredible achievements of our outstanding students here at 91视频. These remarkable individuals have excelled in their academic pursuits and have demonstrated exceptional leadership within our campus community, Hall said. 

淲hether through their performance in classes, impactful contributions to campus organizations, or unwavering commitment to their educational journey, these students have truly left a lasting mark on our 91视频 family.

Deans of the College檚 three division distributed awards to more than 230 students representing Business and Technologies, Allied Health and Natural Sciences, and Humanities, Social Sciences, and Mathematics. Several students also received leadership and service awards for their work within peer campus organizations. 

The event wrapped up with an announcement of new Phi Theta Kappa international honor society inductees and closing remarks from Dr. Hall.

淓ach of the students announced today have been nominated for their remarkable accomplishments within their respective departments or for their remarkable leadership abilities, said Hall. 淭heir dedication and passion have enriched student life at 91视频, inspiring others to reach for greatness and foster in a sense of unity and belonging within our campus community.

Samuel Harris, a parallel nursing major, received a leadership award at the honors convocation ceremony.

Harris plans to attend the nursing program at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center in Memphis after completing his 91视频 degree. 

淚t檚 an honor to receive this award. I檝e put in a lot of hard work and made sacrifices, missing spending time with family, while completing the program. It was worth it and I檓 excited for this next chapter in my life, Harris said.

Daveonne Warfield, a business major, won an award for academic excellence at the ceremony. 

淚 feel great about winning the award, Warfield said. 淚t檚 one of the first academic awards I檝e won, and it feels good. 

Warfield plans to utilize his degree to pursue entrepreneurship and start a business of his own after graduating from 91视频.
