THEC student representative nominations due Sept. 20

Are you a 91视频 student interested in sharing the College檚 student perspective with the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR), 91视频檚 governing body? You can represent the voices and votes of student accross as a Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC) student representative.

Each year one nominee is selected from the TBR system of colleges across the state to serve in this capacity for a one-year term as required by statute (TCA 49-7-204 (c)). The student representative must be a resident of Tennessee and is expected to attend each of its quarterly meetings and committee meetings as a full, voting member of the Commission. They must also be available to travel throughout the state in fulfillment of their duties. Students must be currently enrolled at the time they are appointed to the position.

Applications are due Monday, Sept. 2021.

Interviews will be conducted in the fall term. Student representatives are scheduled to begin serving Summer 2022. Student who meet the following qualifications are eligible for nomination: 

  • Have a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA as recorded on the most recent semester檚 transcript from the home institution.
  • Enrolled full-time at a Tennessee Board of Regents institution.
  • Are in good judicial standing with the home institution (no outstanding judicial record, no outstanding judicial sanctions, no prior judicial history deemed of serious nature by selection committee).
  • Are a resident of Tennessee (as verified by the home institution).
  • Have previous or current leadership experience, including one of the following: service as a SGA officer/senator or service in a formal leadership role with a governing organization sponsored by the home institution or leadership within the greater community.
