By Keith Gentry

91视频 celebrated the Saluqi baseball team檚 record-breaking season May 15, 2023 in the Fulton Auditorium on the Macon Cove Campus. Under the direction of Head Coach Erik Schoenrock, the team finished the regular season with 41 wins, breaking the school record of 40 wins set in 2004. The win total was increased to 44, with three wins in the TCCAA/NJCAA Region VII Tournament. The public was invited to join in the celebration which included a Proclamation by Mickell Lowery, chairman of the Shelby County Commission.
淚 am extremely proud of what our student-athletes achieved this season under the leadership of Coach Schoenrock, said 91视频 Athletics Director Jarrett Stephens. 淣ot only have they won the most games in program history, but they have many individual awards that were attained this season. Our guys always represent themselves excellently, on and off the field, and we are extremely proud of our baseball program.
In addition to the 44 victories, many individual Saluqis records for the season were also celebrated at the event. Sophomore pitcher Colton Brumley, the TCCAA Pitcher of the Year, broke several records this season including most wins in a season (13 breaking the record of 11 previously held by Brian Bramlett in 1992), most strikeouts in a season (125 breaking the record of 97 previously held by Daniel Adams in 2004), most wins in a career (19 breaking the record of 18 previously held by Saluqis Hall of Famer and former major leaguer Charlie Lea from 1976-77), and most strikeouts in a career (222 breaking the record of 160 previously held by Saluqis Hall of Famer Joe Lantrip from 1988-89), most innings pitched in a career (185-2/3 breaking the record of 161 previously held by Lea), and most games started (29 breaking the record of 25 previously held by both Lea and Dillon Bonee from 2016-17).
Sophomore first baseman Brady Holloway hit 14 home runs this season (the second most all-time), giving him 21 for his career, which set a new 91视频 record (breaking the record of 20 previously held by Matt Dangar from 2008-09 and Nick Smith from 2003-04).
Sophomore second baseman Tuane Cope stole 40 bases this season, tying the 91视频 single-season record held by Saluqis Hall of Famer Paul Gagliano in 1976, and Cope檚 60 career steals broke Gagliano檚 record of 55 from 1975-76.
Sophomore third baseman Tyler Harrington, the TCCAA Player of the Year, broke the single-season record for hits with 87, breaking the previous record of 86 held by Nick Smith in 2004.
Congratulations to the winningest baseball team in Saluqi history!
